2001 Willowbend

Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon

Our aim in producing the WillowBend blend of Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon has been to produce a round, soft and flavoursome wine from those varieties that our vineyard produces best.

The Merlot (45%) and Shiraz (32%) provide the full ripe sweet spicy fruit palate and the Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) gives the firm tannin structure.

We have been producing this blend since 1990 and have found the style of this wine to be big, flavoursome and very consistent over the years. With time the older “WillowBend’s” have also showed great complexing characters while still maintaining their fruit flavour.

The 2001 WillowBend Merlot Shiraz Cabernet has big round soft fruit on both the nose and palate, and the combination of both American and French oak have married well with these fruit characters to provide some underlying chocolate flavour with sweet vanillin oak.
