Back in 1983 White Muscat vines were planted on the family vineyard at Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley, replacing some old Frontignac vines planted by my grandfather Oscar Semmler back in the 1930’s. Each year since, the White Muscat has made its way into a couple of the local producers “Late Harvest” style table wines.
We chose to keep some for ourselves to make our 2008 Ivy Blondina Moscato, an Italian style of white wine that is refreshingly sweet having generous tropical fruit characters and a little fizz. It is fittingly named after my grandmother, Oscar’s wife, who was a wonderful woman with a real zest for life. It is best appreciated when served chilled. We trust you’ll enjoy it!
